These Are the Best Songs From Each Member of Brockhampton, Because I Had Time Today
Last night, Brockhampton dropped their fourth studio album, iridescence. The group is managed by the same team who used to manage Odd Future, which makes a lot of sense given how easily they occupy the same space in music as that collective once did. Brockhampton officially arrived on the scene back in with their debut mixtape, but last year was when they really became a thing. The success of that trilogy led to a record deal with RCA. There were hiccups along the way — months later, they found themselves in the news when they kicked out one of their members amid allegations of sexual misconduct, and a scheduled album was scrapped. Beatty assists on the chorus, and it once again becomes clear that he is their secret sauce. On the almost five-minute track, they manage to cover everything from depression and homophobia to racism and selling drugs. Every member of Brockhampton brings something special to the group. While Kevin Abstract's verses empower marginalized groups and Dom McLennon's lyricism reigns supreme, Joba's unpredictability and Merlyn Wood's eccentricity cement their impact on any given track. Then there's Matt Champion, who's known for his cool confidence, and Bearface, whose calming vocals add another dimension to the group. They utilize their knacks for sound engineering, textures, and layers to create the band's auditory imprint. Although Brockhampton operates as a collective , each member of the strong squad brings something unique and important to every track. Unsurprisingly, we have our personal favorite verses and musical compositions from each of the members. So look ahead to see which songs highlight their respective signature styles.
